In America, we have made "poverty" comfortable. So many of our people in "poverty" have a roof over their head, 3 meals a day (plus snacks), plenty of money for beer, cigs, lotto, a vehicle, and all paid for AT TAXPAYER EXPENSE. Can you call these people stupid? Not at all. Seems that they're smarter than a lot of us that are busting hump to pay the bills and keep food on the table. As to stupidity being painful, it should be too. I'm not talking mental retardation here, for that is completely different. I'm talking the ones that get their disability checks (cough, cough) on the third of the month, spend it all in the same weekend on items listed above, and then don't have any money for a roof over their head or to put food on their table. That kind of stupidity should be painful too. I'm not against helping anyone that truly needs help, however I fully against giving anyone a dime that has the ability to be productive. You want a check? Then get out and do community service and clean up the roadsides and ditches. Drug testing should be mandatory. 1 strike and you're out. If anyone can afford to smoke, then they're not in poverty. If anyone can afford to drink, they're not in poverty. Own a car? You're not in poverty either. I know poverty when I see it, and we see very little of it in America. That that we do see should be helped. That that is not poverty should be made to be uncomfortable in order for them to do better. One last and final statement on the demise of our society: The government welfare check has replaced the father in the family structure.........
