Can some of you give me an idea on how much poison had to be in the wheat to be in the feed in that consentration?? and so widespread!!
I'm math impaired, and can only come up with "a lot" and "Has to be deliberate."

I don't know how much, but I understand the Chinese that grew the wheat used rat poison in the fields where they grew it and it got into the system.

I heard this morning that 2 of the pet owners are already suing the pet food people. I think the ACLU is doing it for them. They are claiming the pet food people should have known about the poison before they made the pet food.

This should be interesting to watch. That cat or dog from the animal shelter just became worth $1,000,000. or so.

We have had alot of animals dying here in indiana from the contaminated dog/cat food, thank god i did not purchase any of those brands, I still go with my gut feeling that is was does on purpose but who knows.

Not necessarily, nor do I think it was deliberate. According to everything I've read/heard, it was a substance (I believe it was a pesticide, but I don't know that for sure) that was not approved for use in the US, so who knows what the dosage needed to kill is. There is also the very real possibility that is was cumulative. I know how it feels to lose a pet suddenly and unexpectedly, and I'm not making light of the situation in any way - but what if it had gotten into the food supply?

Yes, it could have. Since it was not approved for use in the US, I'm thinking it should not have crossed our borders in the first place.

I have treated 5 cases of this SO FAR, the most heart rending one in a 4 month old kitten which presented for vaccines and I had to tell the owner it has renal failure.

My problem in this whole thing is why did gluten need to be imported from China, when Canada has a glut of wheat?? A Canadian company, manufacturing in the US and they import that?? Somehow this just seems wrong, and the search for the almighty dollar has led to this. Will regulation help? As long as there's greed, there will always be this kind of problem.

I support "buy local", especially when it comes to food.

Is there a way to know if the food has ingredients from other countries? Do they have to list that on the package?
