the neice an nephew wanted to go pull up throrn trees an bushes so we went an pulled up 3 flatbed trailer loadsthen we went to town got a pint of 2 4 D an poisened the roots.then i shredded a bunch of throns down an we poisened them as well.need todo alot more fall shredding getting ready for the spring grass.

they are locast thorns.we pulled them up with the kubota.so we could get the roots drenched.then i shredded an they drenched the stobs.

2-4D works best on green growth. Not sure if it will help at all with the roots - never heard of doing that. Crossbow works on woody plants. But, I'm sure there is product specifically for roots. Maybe Tordon, I'm not familiar with it.
Now we're talking my hubbies specialty (he sells agricultural chemicals along with fertilizers).

thanks ive the 2 4 D so ill see what that does.when it warms back we are gonna go back to work.

Pretty much think you are wasting time and chemical....2, 4-d is for folar treatment not basil. Second...nothing is actively growing at the moment. 2, 4-d can get young growing stuff, but I think there are better choices and better timing. :2cents:

well if im wasting my time thats ok,the 2 4 D only cost $13 a pint.so it wont be to bad of a loss.ill just respray this spring.

an yes i know thats real high priced.
Then why not save it and use it when it will actaully do some good and on something that it will actaully work on?

i just got a price on tordon,its $17 a pint.
And applied at the correct time it will be effective, 2-4,d applied at anytime isn;t going to kill roots of other then normal weeds.

when would be a good time to apply it.we are cleaning up a meadow we havent baled in 4 or 5yrs.

Last summer I cleaned up all of my pastures of locust thorns. We just chopped them off at the ground and soaked the stobs with Remedy. I didn't see any of them come back. We just bought another 120 acres that is virtually covered in them. Do y'all think my method is working or would I be better served doing something else or using another product?

nope the remedy will work fine have used it as a basal and as foliar
on pastures that have small regrowth I usually will add remedy to my tank mix at 1/3 of an ounce per gallon of water and it takes care of the woody plants locust, oak sumac plum and whatever else is trying to come back

I will mix remedy at a 1/2oz pr gallon of water and a surfactant and just spray the small trees and it works pretty well might have to spray a time of two but it usually does the job

best times is late spring and early fall it seems it kills better at those times for larger stuff
