Had found the cow with another cow and a newborn calf . But only one calf between the 2 . When she got up , her sides were thin with no baby bump in her belly . She also had a tag , about a foot long cord I thought coming from her vulva . She has been a week with this looking like a cow who had calved and not cleaned off .i have looked for a dead calf , walked the creek that she was lying next to and have been on the lookout for buzzards . IMG_6898.jpegI was fixing to give her some antibiotics. Well today she was the only cow that came to the hay ring for a new bale . Still some discharge but no tag/ cord . Went back later this afternoon and look what was with her . And she is cleaned off . Calf has a fresh umbilical cord .

@coachg , so y'all have the Mexican black vultures over there? If so, how long have y'all had them? And have y'all had some confirmed calf kills by them?

At least 3-4 years . One for certain, have a couple more losses I have my suspicions of . How about you ? I have dealt with a few and will continue to do what I can .
One time winter of 2022, or may have been winter of 2023. I saw about 60 or 80, roosting in a grave yard right beside I-75 in Adairsville. Exit 306. They were perched on about every headstone or memorial statue on that hill. Looked like a scene from a movie. As I drove right by it, I could see they weren't our turkey buzzards. This is the first time I had seen them. I figured they were migrating or something. I didn't really know anything about black buzzards back then. There was a fog burning off the lower part of that hill, and it was kind of spooky looking. And one day this past fall, going up US 41 to the Calhoun sale, again right around Adairsville, I saw a road-kill deer on the shoulder, There were about 6 or 8 buzzards on it, and 4 of those black vultures on the ground a little ways from it, like they were waiting their turn. That is all I have ever seen up in here. And I have never heard any talk about them at the sale barns, etc. I bet they will spread this way though, before too long.
