Bought a couple cows awhile back. One bred cow and a pair. The cow with the calve was sold open I discussed it in this thread viewtopic.php?f=12&t=83188 I noticed she was alone in the back of the field today and she had a calf with her so she was bred when I bought her . Very happy with the deal now.

Was the other calf still on her?
I bought them first of April and weaned the calf in July. She was apparently about 3 months bred when I bought her.

Same thing happened to me this fall. I thought it was going to turn out bad because I assumed she was open and had given her Bovi-Shield Gold FP 5 L5 which Lucky_P said may cause the calf to be BVD PI. I tested the calf negative. Fire Sweep is her namesake (Kris). Turns out folks like the little heifer calf better than the ones I thought were better. Shows how poor a judge I am. But like Kris says, I just look at those big female eyes with the big lashes. :D

M5, you might have an "Evangeline" on your hands...

Our Evangeline is a slender char cross momma that really pumps out a grower of a calf. She is currently on her second, if she keeps growing them how she has so far, she doesn't keep any groceries for herself, she's going to have a long career at GRF.

Sounds like your light little char momma is a hard worker too, just doing a dang good job at what she's supposed to be doing... Raising calves and making you money.

Take care of her and hang onto her and she will take care of you :)
