Sara,s been gone, and I've done almost no work since she left. Been having fun bein' a big time rancher. A friend asked about my Marathon bull, here's his pic. He bred 27 cows this summer, then bred the 12 fall calvers. Fed him some commodity pellets last spring before turning him out, since then nothing till yesterday. He looks about as bad as he ever has. The Conley and OCC bloodlines hold up better than the genetics I have been used to. That's why I changing my cow herd. Still have 2 K205 bulls left, but may sell them also.

Net wrap made a whole lot more sense when I realized it went on the outside

I don't know much about it. All I know is he can't afford to pay for the net wrap up front, so I pay for it!! Are you saying that it costs too much to do it with the wrap at the start? gs

I put the bale in a ring, at least I will have the wrap in one place. May let it get ate down and burn the rest. sg
PG, I have been told by my vet to always remove all net wrap. If a big enough wad makes it to their small intestine it will kill them. Now I have never had this happen, and have seen a piece I missed in a cow patty, but I don't want to take any chances. May not be anything to it, but thought I would give you a heads up just in case.

I've heard that too. Also, have unrolled a lot of hay that couldn't get the net wrap off of, ice and snow. Never lost one to that that I know of. Maybe I could blame something on that. If one is gonna' die from net wrap and you don't let it, it'll find something else to die from. gs

Just my own experience with the net wrap. Last year was my first time to use it, and in the spring, the cows managed to break into the pen where I store the hay. Fortunately, there were only 3 bales left, but they ate every bit of it, EXCEPT for the net wrap. They left it alone so I could pull up about a hundred yards of it.
