... for those who asked about the bull in my avatar:

Would anyone like to estimate his weight? We haven't weighed him. He's standing in front of 4WD Toyota T-100.

Comments on the bull are appreciated. Thanks.

Age 5 years.

He will eat rage cubes out of your hand.

Notice I said YOUR hands? Honestly he is a very gentle bull but I try not to encourage him. I'm afraid treats will only make him more persistant in approaching people. He only gets cubes when the herd gets them and then we try to be discreet and get them on the ground BEFORE the the cows arrive.

i bet that bull could be rough in the pens.ive worked 2 brimmer bulls in my time.an they would try to run over you everytime.but honestly that is 1 heck of a bull. i bet he go 2000lbs.scott

When I was but a wee lad we used to name our Hudgin's bulls after Roman emperors. I've nicknamed this o'l boy "Lucifer" to impress friends and neighbors  ... or Lucky for short.

He looks gentle in my book, noitce how his eyes are closed when the picture was taken, he was either so relaxed or the flash got him...lol Good looking bull!! What is a Gyr type Brahman?

I'm guessing he won't go 2K. My experience with brammers is they don't carry the mass of other beef breeds. I have seen some huge ones though that would go over 2K. Kind of hard to tell from the picture but I'm thinking around 1800-1900 pounds. Now go get him weighed.

He looks to me like he is an Indu type bull. He's not unlike some bulls you see in Australia.
Colin

Good call Colin. I think there is something else in there other than just brammer.

Other then the horns he looks like a Gyr(Gir) to me. But I don;t mess with indicus influenced cattle anymore either

Remember that Brahman is a composite, built up partly by the breeds that you are guessing this bull is, so yes, he does have Gyr influence,a nd yes he does have other Inducus influence, too.

I've met him, and he is as gentle as they come. Miles has a good herd of cattle.

Thanks Tod.

Tod was able to see this bull at his gentlest, while having a bout of narcolepsy (the bull, not Tod).

My father gets a lot of the credit for this herd and he's the one who found this bull. I guess we'll share the credit since his heifers go into my herd and vice versa.
