im getting my first heifer this january for the august fair in ventura county and i was wondering if anyone can help me on how to pick out a heifer? all the advice will be greatly appreciated

Based on your post, I'm thinking you don't know about body structure and what is desirable in cattle. If that is the case, I would suggest you google 'judging cattle', and check with your local county extension office to see if they have any pamphelets (sp?) about judging 4-H cattle. If you know someone in your area that raises cattle, that could also be a resource - depending on the quality of his/her cattle.
