Petition

Wouldn't open for me.

I'd be very leery of that. If by "the whitehouse" they mean obama, I can't imagine any scenario in which he would have any interest in horses, slaughter or otherwise. Probably wouldn't recognize a horse if he met one on the street.

Gotta get the signatures going there are 181 petitions and the HSUS has one going to keep the ban and stop horse slaughter completely and I don't mean the one on here to allow inspections of horse slaughter plants to be funded by the USDA again.
We gotta beat these sobs or they will be after the cattle slaughter plants next.

Yeah we do TT. The petition I posted would allow for paid USDA inspectors to go to horse slaughter plants so horses can can be inspected for human consumtion.

The other one I found was to stop ALL horse slaughter. Their claim is by doing this will allow for fewer number of horses in the US.
Idiots.

So which one are we signing? I abhor the notion of eating horse meat (personally) but also fret over the fate of old and neglected horses.

I work as a volunteer at a therapeutic riding academy for handicapped children here in Williamson County, TN where I live. I spent most of last evening and this morning mucking stalls and grooming horses so I struggle with this topic. I just can't seem to look at a horse as a source of food but I am aware of the over population problem.

You yourself don;t have to eat it. Most of it si shipped to europe, they eat a lot of winnie over there

We are signing the one to allow USDA inspectors back in the horse slaughter plants.

don't get me wrong I love my horses except for about a month back when I threatened to shoot them and eat them after they chewed on our good truck while I was unloading some feed.

Too many horses now a days are being dumped on private land, BLM, Forest Service, or plain negelected. Some people do not have an area big enough or the laws do not allow for burying of dead horses

It's way over-due for this to be re-looked at!! Thanks.

I don't know if these net petitions actually get to where they need to go . . . . ?? I'd back it up with a letter, phone call and/or email to your area US representatives/senators.

I don't think they can use "internet" signatures can they?? Has to be actual signatures? Be sure to contact your regions representatives.
