My pet peeve is that when you order parts from Case-IH or New Holland they send you a package with more than you need and will not open the package and expect you to buy it unopened. Needed the friction washers for the governor control rod. Ordered and two came in the package. Will never use the extra one. Gaskets a few days ago came in five to the package. I told them I would not take them and bought some gasket maker at auto zone. GRR makes me upset. Could be just my dealer

Nope, it's every dam one of them. I have my NH in shop for clutch. When she told me the hours required my first reply was the mechanic 1 armed. It's a rip off but I don't have time to do it myself at the moment.

Same thing with John Deere. Buy a kit for a ram and they send you what you need plus $100 worth of stuff you never will need. But it's easy for them because the kit works for lots of applications. Drive me nuts.

Ordered pick up wheel for NH 273 baler. Just needed the rubber, but they only sold it in kit. Took me about 4-5 months getting around to put it on. Opened the box - had everything except the damn rubber wheel! Parts guy assured me twice the rubber was in the box before leaving the store. They’ve done a few other things to really tick me off too.

Stopped in at a NH dealer in Mississippi last year while traveling for work, to pick up a couple small parts. Wow! They bent over backwards and didn’t know me from Joe. They even opened couple boxes to make sure it’s what I needed. Sure wish they were my local dealer.

I refuse to take an ordered part unless the box/package is see through plastic, or the box is opened. I don't have time to run back and forth even though I am working less and less. And I certainly will not keep spending the money on gas. Did it a couple of times and the next time I said, open the box/bag whatever, or I will buy it direct off the internet and save my gas. They no longer argue with me.
My son said, "how'd you do that mom? " and I said, I simply told them this is the way it's gonna be because if I get home and it isn't right, AGAIN, or there is a washer missing, or something, they will hear me as I drive THROUGH that big window to return it. One other part place that we deal with for the Farmalls, and Fords, is the best place there is... they open everything and we compare it to the part I bring in, to order a new one, or they look at the picture and show me what it is and where it goes....

i just pull out my knife and open it.. don't even ask them.

Gotta post this: Years ago I was at the JD dealership for several things and one was a new fuel cap for my 4020. Parts guy puts the parts on the counter and starts writing up the order. Waiting, I did just as you and started opening the boxes. Came to the diesel cap, opened the box and the cap was RED! I stopped the clerk and said there must be some mistake....I'm not putting a RED fuel cap on my GREEN tractor. Answer was that it was OEM spec.

Get home and whip out my I & T manual which covers several 20 series tractors.....front cover shows a 3020 and sur-nuff, there sits a RED cap on a GREEN tractor. Best guess reasoning is that usually the radiator cap is up front but on these JDs the front houses the fuel tank and the radiator is between it and the engine. Helps to keep your water and fuel and where they belong.
