Wonderful pics, they look great...are the ducklings Muscovies? I've had a couple of chicken disasters here the last day or so, so it's nice to see someone doing it right!

Thanks, you guys!! Gale, yes they are muscovies, I really like them, and they don't need water like other ducks (plus they eat flies like crazy). I hope things look up with your chickens. Rebel Critter, all you need is a hen and a rooster ;-) ;-) ......

Yes, but get just ONE rooster...we had a clutch of 15 banty eggs hatch last week. Oddly enough, the red rooster sat with the hen for a week or so before hatching and was actually helping the hen, showing chicks how to peck, drink, etc., once they were mobile. Then one of the other white banty roosters started killing the chicks...haven't ever seen that before (like the lions in Africa do)! Needless to say, I went on a rooster roundup, caught Attila and Adolf...Eichmann and Himmler are still on the loose but I will catch them in the rafters tonight and call the guy who likes roosters.
I try to keep all my different kinds of chickens seperate from one another. I have had some funky cross breeds come out, though. Fortunately, I don't have any flogging roosters right now. I have had roosters that would terrorize the populace. Production Reds and Arucanas. I have a silkie rooster I call Sideways that has been around for a while. I can walk up to him and pick him up. I think he's had a chicken stroke or something. Kinda goes around in circles. He gets enough to eat, though, so I keep him around.
As for ducks, had some and they flocked to the neighbor's pool. I don't think they lasted too long after that. Funny thing about my nieghbors. They don't keep animals and they sure don't like mine! I wouldn't want duck poop in my pool either.
