Anyone out there feeding Peanut Hay?

Bermuda hay around here is essentially non-existant. Almost same for haygrazer. All hay prices have gone up significantly. Last price quote we had for bermuda hay delivered here was $70 a round bale, semi-load!

So...peanut hay? Nutrient level? Effect on cattle?

Thanks!

Have fed it in the past. Lots of stems and dirt in it usually from the way it's baled. Beats a snowball.

If you could grind it and add a pinch of molasses they would eat every ounce.

Hi Bill, I live just 25 miles north of you and I have fed alot of peanut hay in this area. My cows love it and eat every bite. It does give them the squirts but it is abundant around here. The only other drawback is that if you store alot of it the turkeys and coons will tear it up to get the left over peanuts out of it. :cboy:
