Loving this beef market. Just sold a trailer load of 6 to 7 month old bull & heifer calves to my regular customer. Average weight of 685 lbs for $1,666 hd. He picks them up and pays cash. Life is good :cboy:

I'm itching to pull the trigger on some myself. Have some heifers I might save but its a hard decision. Bird in the hand and all that stuff.

We have been offered $1,800 a head to put together 10 yearling heifers, bred or open, and he'll pick them up.

I'm having a hard time declining that request.

Might add a couple but the plan is to use some of the funds to build a roof over my handling pens and squeeze chute. Maybe take a bit a fun money too.

Hoss,

I didn't sell as many calves as you did, but I did sell 5 heifers on Thursday at the Tennessee Livestock Producers sale barn in Columbia, TN. They averaged 575 pounds each and brought a little over $2.15 per pound. That's the most I've ever received for calves.

I have 5 bull calves to start weaning early next week, so I hope that the market holds up for the next month at least.

Tom in TN

I averaged 2.43 lb but I sold them private treaty so he was paying a premium. I don't sell many at the barn. I have a fantastic 675 lb gelbvieh x char cross heifer left to sell.....if I don't keep her myself. She is a fine specimen for her age.
