I have a Char heifer that is about 10days overdue, she has kinda been keeping to herself for the past couple of days but no calf yet. She is really heavy but still getting around pretty good, I plan to put her in the barn today in case there's a problem.

i would advise you to get her up and get her checked if you are not sure how to make sure that everything is ok. calf could be turned, backwards or too big for her. of course, everything may be just fine, but if she has been to herself for 2 days, i would want to know for sure what is going on.

good luck

Just came from the farm, found my overdue heifer in labor with what looked like the tips of the front feet exposed.

Something is going to happen now, hopefully it will be without my help?

Well, after a little assistance the calf is out and doing fine. She has been the only one that has needed assistance, so far. However, she has been the only heifer too.

These Beefmaster / Charolais cross calves have been a little bigger than I expected, really nice looking calves though.

I had rather have a calf that needed some help than have some of these "Dinks" I have had.

Had a 52 lb Char this year from an extremely low EPD bull. The other calves born around the same time weigh nearly twice what he does now.

Got a couple more that will get the knife too.

Mike, that is just more reason too avoid extremes at all cost, to the "good" or "bad" side. Too much of a good thing....
