Over regulation?

A little back ground, those two NEW stop signs are posted at gaits the middle of a private quarter section that is crossed by a rail road. The gaits are used twice a year to move cattle across.

I'm guessing that this is the result of a law suit or new regulation...... curious if anyone knows.

How do you know when to go?
I guess you would play Tonto and put your ear to the track to see if choo-choo is coming

Then the government would put a sign saying, "Remove head from tracks prior to train passing" and if you did not they would withhold a penalty from any future IRS refunds.

Never seen a rectangular stop sign. Thought they had to be octagonal. I am appalled that you don't have silt fencing where you disturbed the soil. It needs to be on the low side and the high side. Definitely not in Georgia. Georgia loves silt fencing.

It's obvious that he is supposed to STOP the fencing at the railroad. That is why it uses the square type stop sign.

:D It hasn't changed to go yet, so I guess the cows are just stuck for now unless we run them around on the country road. It just has a RR crossing sign- which puzzled me as well. The overgrown gait in the middle has a stop sign, but the county road used daily by many vehicles just has a sign letting you know that the metal tracks you are about to pass over is a rail road...

Now don't go giving anyone any ideas. :cry2: I'm not a fan of fence work, I'd hate to think what that would entail. I'm not a fan of building fence anyway, I can't imagine my attitude if the state tried to make it a bigger pain.

County commission is going a bang up job right now. I hope no one in Washington finds out. The above they did as a service to provide a firebreak after having some serious wild fires last few years.

The guy has taken situations that have been ignored for years like the following that you could barely get a drill down:

And made a road again.

He was asked how he was finding the money to do it all? Said he isn't spending any more than the last guy. The difference is that he goes out to work site everyday to make sure the work is actually getting done. Apparently a little oversight makes a big difference, who knew? How much worse is the waste at the Federal level?

CF, after looking at your pictures I understand the reason for your question about the stop sign better. I see you have two on the little used trails but on the better county maintained road I see none at all at the crossing. That's odd.

BTW - ever use embers from those scrub oaks to cook steaks over? Imparts a wonderful flavor on a steak.

Nice road and ditch work.
Just wondering where the water goes when it gets to the bottom of the hill?

Is that government barb wire?
Not enough warning labels on it stating tension instructions, and if it was govt wire, each individual barb would be covered by a red protective puncture proof guard with a sign saying "remove only after installation".

What is also lacking is the OSHA mandated information board that has a map to the closest hospital, the number you need to call in case of emergency - that would be 911 if you somehow missed the memo - and the MSDS sheets of all toxic chemicals used on the site as well as the federal labor laws written in both English and Spanish. Also need a porta potty. A place to wash your hands. Also need a copy of your environmental impact statement on the board as well. And a well stocked first aid box at the board. Oh, you will need to move the board as the work progresses because this can't be too far from the work site.

Don't forget about silt sock! 3 rows of 8 inch sock above and below. Then some silt fence, then a row of bales.

That PortaPotty has to have it's own bi-lingual instructions too--with full illustrations for those who were downtrodden, forgotten, under-privileged disenfranchised/fell thru the cracks, recently immigrated, and as a result-------------can't read.
Perhaps a weblink as well. (Believe it or not, there are websites with govt approved instructions on "how to properly wipe your butt").

Greybeard I share your pain but with the country moving Forward in the manner it is I'm afraid we both could use some education and guidance on how to deal with bathroom etiquette in this new and progressive society we find ourselves in. I'm pretty sure the way we would have handled this in the past might be considered wrong. Might even be considered wrong on a federal level.

I've been busy lately and missed replying to this thread. What is water? :?

The blue arrow is the bottom and direction of flow, the water will cut through the berms on the right if they don't get it smoothed up before it rains again.
