Well, the you-know-what has really hit the fan here over the weekend. Our state (NSW) has been quarrantined over the weekend. All horse movements are now illegal - that includes floating and trucking horses as well as riding/walking them off your own property.
This means that all the people at uni who keep their horses in the stables here cannot go home for the holidays (two weeks time) unless the quarrantine has been lifted by then.
One of the girls I know here was supposed to be competing in a national competition in a few weeks time, but the horse is not allowed to leave the property.
Another student bought a horse just a few hours before the quarrantine was announced, and now she cant bring it home.
It also means that if your stock horses are on one property, you cant take them to your other property to muster the cattle there.
All the horse sections at the agricultural shows have been cancelled.
There is speculation that the Melbourne Cup - the horse race that stops the nation - will be cancelled.
Dont know when it will all be over . . .
49 cases diagnosed this morning, but according to some that is a scaled-down version of things.
