Olivia had her calf on Oct. 31 He is now 5 weeks old, I noticed today that he had manure on his tail and his hind end. Is this something I should be concerned about. He is acting tha same, bucking heads with pasquale the bull eating good, both mother's milk and hay, what should I look for?

Congrats Lance, Cigars are in order. I like the El Presidente Cubans!

Do not concern yourself about the manure being on the hind end of the calf. That is the correct end for it to be on.

 Olivia
Congrats Lancemart we've been wondering how it went.

Finally! I say congratulations to you! And a Halloween baby at that! Awww right! Now, when's that next baby due? Wanna get a headstart on this one, LOL!!!!

Relax - Mother Nature is at work.

Finally we heard about this calf that was supposed to be born months ago.

Stay well,

Bez!

A long time ago - not sure when.

Hey - do you suppose there really is a calf or is someone pulling our leg?

Probaly got bred about when they said she was gonna have a calf.
I remember I said to expect a calf in December for a Christmas present.

Lancemart - 5 weeks  you're kidding. So where was the birth announcement??? Fill us in - were you there??? How much did he weigh??
Anyway, manure on the tail & rear quarters is not unusual. Just make sure it's not real watery - or orange & stinky. (well, stinkier than normal!) Obviously, you are keeping a close eye on this guy. Have you castrated him yet??

Agree...pictures. Sounds like you have a nice calf...is he worth keeping as a bull? Don't wait to long to band/cut him if he has the genetics that you want to build on.
How did Olivia handle the birth...better yet, how did y'all handle it...nervous?
Good luck...DMc
