I just wanted to say that the yarns and tall tales I give you sometimes are simply that. Some folks don't seem to be able to tell that I am giving these to you as pure levity and fun. Some folks seem to think I am telling them as lies that I expect them to believe. I enjoy them and I thought you might too. I worked in a feed store as a kid and have heard old farmers sit for hours and spin these things. I just don't want to lose credibility on the board. If they bother you folks or you don't enjoy them I won't post them anymore. But if you have any I'd love to hear them. :D

Baron, I think everyone knows these are told in jest. Keep em' coming. How do you think I feel? 6 days a week, being in the feed business, and having 12-15 fellers all day telling tales, and jokes.I've heard the same ones so many times, it's worse than having to sit for a week and watch "I Love Lucy" reruns.I've really been thinking of starting a live website for all the BS that is told in 9hrs. a day.I could have a sort of pay per view extra charge when certain "Guests" come in. They make Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable guy look like amateurs.

I know what you mean. I gotta admit though, some of them are classics. Where is your store Crowder? I'd like to come by some time and chew the fat.

I for one really enjoy reading those yarns. when I was a kid, my dad and uncles used to tell me those and I would sit there supified thinking these are the most amazing stories. I know God has a sense of humor because he plays jokes on me all the time. Keep em coming.

Really, a lot of them should be printed.Someday when that generation is gone, no one will be able to tell them the way they do.Just when you think you have heard them all, you'll hear a new one.

One of them the other day told me the other day women used to call him the Dentist. He'd tell them lay down,it'll be numb, it wont hurt a bit, and you wont feel a thing...

Hey it may have been me you were refering to. I made a comment about the rabbit hunter liars thread in another post. I meant no disrespect. I didn't mean that commit in a bad way. Actually I was telling another yarn in that post about kudzu. I have always enjoyed listing to yarns like that. Outside most any country store around here is what is called the "LIARS BENCH" Its a bench that folks sit around and tell tall stories. Everbody knows they are just that. Keep them coming, sorry if I caused any misunderstanding. Be forewarned though when it come to yarns, I am as good a liar as anyone. They are so farfetched, everbody knows I'm kidding.

Why don't you do that, Crowder? It sounds like you have a good supply of the tall-tales. Why not record them for generations to come and see if you can get them published? Can't hurt to try.

That would be a great idea, BUT I'd have to modify a few of them, because it could incriminate a few of the story tellers. Nah, I'm just kidding. We have what's called the "Liar's Table" I think I'll look into starting to write or record these tales. Some are real Doozies!

Naw keep it up I love reading your post as well as Caustic's two old cattlemen having fun. Texan and Ollie can be hoot also.
Heck listen to most of these people you would think they are JR on the Southfork, when in reality most wouldn't make a pimple on a cowmans ass.

I think I could at least make a pimple!

Hey, hold off a second I can be a ass!! :D So between me and 1848 we make a pretty good cattleman :D

Grandad said that when a fella starts off with "Let me tell 'ya about the time" then its going to be a pretty good story (at least his were). We enjoy a good yarn and have been known to be the basis of a few around here...heck, most of us know when the opening should have been 'Once upon a time" but continue to read with the anticipation of a raptured child and look forward to the ending....keep on posting Baron
