Seriously just drill like crazy here. There have been enough finds to support our needs. Then when they come wanting wheat, just ask "what did you say".

However using the ag sectors production of grain as a bargaining chip for foreign relations isn't really fair to the ag sector.

I see a flaw in the plan, they would just sell their oil to else where, and buy their grain there too.

I was just saying do you think it's right to use the fruits of your labor as a bargaining chip for foreign trade. That is what they did years ago with the grain embargo.
 
Bushel of wheat=barrel of oil was a battle cry back in the 70's, too. Radio legend Paul Harvey endorsed the idea on every "news" broadcast.
Wheat was around $3 and oil, since OPEC had formed oil was pushing $20.
But it's a bad idea. Trade the two seperately. Sometime one will have the advantage, sometimes the other.
 
The principle of a barrel for a bushel sounds good and can't disagree with the idea. But you leave agriculture out to dry on the swap or could very well leave them out to dry.
