I'm going to start posting recipes I find in these cook books that just sound great.
Since I cannot try them I'll let you guys be the taste testers. :lol2: ;-)

Apple Rolls

1/2c sugar
1/2c honey
1c water
2c finely diced apples

Dough
1c sifted flour
3T shortening
1/2t salt
2t baking powder
1T sugar
1/3-1/2c milk

boil sugar, honey and water together to make a thin syrup.
Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together. Cut in the shortening. Add milk to make a fairly soft dough.
Roll out on a floured board in retangled shape 1/4 inch thick.
Spread apples over dough and roll like a cinnamon roll. Cut into 1 inch slices, place in a greased baking dish 6"x10".
Sprinkle with cinnamon, pour hot syrup over rolls.
Bake at 450 degrees for 25 minutes.

Brown Sugar Rolls

2c sifted flour
1/4c sugar
4t baking powder
1t salt
1/3c shortening
2/3c seedless raisins
2/3c milk
2T butter
1t cinnamon
1/2c brown sugar
1T corn syrup

Sift together flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Cut in shortening. Add raisins and milk.
Roll out onto a floured surface to a rectangle 9x12 inches.
Spread 1T butter on dough and sprinkle with cinnamon, roll from the long side as a jelly roll.
Cut into 9 (1 inch) slices.
Spread remaining butter into an 8x8 pan. Cover with brown sugar mixed with corn syrup. Place rolls cut side down. Bake in a moderately hot oven (375 degrees) for about 25 minutes.
Turn out upside down.

Bad girl, ILH! How did you KNOW I had a bunch of apples that were on sale last week? Now I'm gonna have to try those apple rolls this weekend.

Let me know how they turn out.
Hubby is gone so I would rather not poison the kids this week . :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:
