I was outside walking to go work with the animals and got a phone call. The guy was real nice to start then we get to talking and he says I want to buy 50 reg. show quaility (heifers and bulls). I told him thats goin to be high for 50 head. He said how much you think it will cost, I said it will be at least $2500 a head. Then he said I thought you said it is going to be high. I don't know about ya'll but 50 head $2500+ a head aint cheap. Then he told me I got $250,000 to spend. He said what you got. I said I only got but 3; one heavy bred heifer, weaned heifer and a bull calf. Then I told him my uncle had about 7 heifers for sale. Then he said I am bring a pot belly trailer(18-Wheeler) he said I anit going that far for 10 head. I said I got people around me that want to sell I could put 50 head together for you. He said I think I am wasting my time and hung up. So I called him back got his voicemail left a message.

Just to do it I got on the phone and called maybe 4 or 5 people. I would have had 9 heifers and 1 bull for him. I called some people that rasie Brangus and buy from Camp Cooley. One person I called said I got 12 for sale but they aint halter broke. someone else I call said I got 20 but they aint broke. Call someone else they said I got 7 broke. Another man that live just up the road said I got 4 broke to sale. There you have it I found 53 head for this man and in a 40 mile radius. Didn't even give me time to talk.

The guy is from AZ and the area code is "520" he called me at 4:06pm central time. Just letting this person know I found him more than what he wanted. ;-)

SCAM SCAM SCAM IS WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING AT.

No it's not LA. read the post by tape in the breeds board. memaanpa referred a guy to SC farms and stephan treated him like dirt and cussed at him.

steven!
that was a contract buyer! i gave him your number to call based on your so called stock!
what you told him was you had 3 or 4 head of cows etc, he said he was interested in 50 head of steers and hiefers show quality, your uncle had mayby 10 head at$3000 ea! nit totally unreasonable!
my friend told me you could not come up with 50 head, and he said you were wasting his time with all the maybes!
and he hung up!!!!!!!!!
the voice mail you left him there after was offensive and very colorful! a good way to impress potential buyers of your stock!!!!! he forwared it to me!
this buyer is a major player in show stock for other show folks on the west coast. his credentials are immpeccable, if he said he wanted 50 head he didn't mean a bunch of stops and look see's.
so much for future recommedations on a lot of smoke!!!

Thanks for recommending me but he started cursing at me so I played the same game. I have seen about 30 of these heifers and bulls all of them are worth $3,000. There is one yearling bull I would say he would be worth $6500. The other 20 was from a guy that rasies but I never seen them. I could have done something to where those people could have come to my farm and he could have drove right to my farm and picked them up. We didn't talk long enough for me to explain that.

Oh what a delima. Let's see ..... who to believe .... maybe just maybe the leopard has changed his spots .... naw ... maybe later.

Gota go with memanpa.

Stephen,
i went to the Ag Expo today. Camp Cooley was represented there. i thought about you. they had a couple of bulls. i thought about going up to the guy and asking him if he had bought those bulls from my friend Stephen Clark in Louisianna. but i didnt. he was busy talking to someone and i was more interested in the Pine Ridge Angus booth (since they are from here and we are related), the Brahman booth, and the red angus booth. no beefmasters there this year. had some gerts, a real speckledy hereford like certified posted, some blondes, some romangolas, some pinz and some simmentals (black).

JMO... If the "contract buyer" had properly identified him/herself from the onset, the conversation might have gone a different way.

We all know that those SCAM artists (e.g., Nigerian, etc.) make upfront outlandish offers without seeing or inquiring about the quality, etc., of the animals.

If I get an email (or phone call...havent yet) from some "buyer" that offers X dollars for animals sight unseen and is not willing to listen to any details, etc., well...that's what the "Delete" Key is for...lol.

running bull!
the buyer did identify himself, yes he did say he had over $200000 worth of contracts to fill. he did tell what he was looking for, did listen to steven tell him he only had a few head for sale, did listen to steven tell him about his uncles 10-15 head and that he could come up with more,
there was never any swearing by the buyer,
when he decided there was no longer any reason to keep listening he basically said , no need to waste any more of our time!!! and hung up!!
we were setting in a coffee shop side by side when he made the call! i personally will stand behnd the buyer as being 100% legit!
he told steven had had contracts for 50 head of show quality steers and hiefers, not cows , not bulls, but steers and hiefers.
at the end of the conversation. the buyer left
less than 5 minutes later he came back and had me listen to the voice mail left to him by sc farms!!!!!
there were 3 other people setting in the booth at the time of the call that can and are willing to verify what was said, and also heard the voice mail left to the buyer!!!!
sorry for being long winded but i am still smarting from this whole experence

I'd get over it pretty quick.SC Farms has sent me numerous PM's trying to sell me Cattle. Cant blame him for trying...But it aint my style to buy from e-mailed pictures, or Kids. I called his bluff on a Bull, his next PM was "gotta go, I think I've made a Catch" Never have heard from him again. Your best bet is to deal with reputable, proven people. Not some kid using these boards as an advertising arena.

crowder
i learn!!! therefore i am still alive!!!
normally i would not have done what i did!senior moment i suppose they seem to happen to often now a days

I have to commend memanpa for trying to give stephen the benifit of the doubt and trying to help him out. It is unfortunate that the kid handled the situation like he did. No worries memanpa, 99% of us place more on your recalection of what happened then we do Stephen's.
