The selection committee is going to have a tough time of it this week.

Number 1 loses on the road to number 5 by 5 points.

Number 2 did not play.

Number 3 beat an unranked team by 4 on the road to remain undefeated.

Number 4 beats an unranked team by 4 on the road.

What's the committee going to do? Does Alabama move into the top 4? I would think so. How far do they jump and who gets dropped?

Alabama number 1 and MSST drops to number 5?

Florida state is the only undefeated team remaining in the top 25 but after being jumped by 1 loss Oregon last week the committee made it clear that they are not impressed just because your undefeated.

Does MSST get dropped because they're the only top 4 team to lose this weekend? Let's look at that loss. They lost on the road to number 5. They had more passing yards, rushing yards and time of possession than Bama. They each had one sack. But MSST had three turnovers all on Bama's side of the field at least two in the red zone. A very controversial call may have cost MSST state the game. A clear fumble by Bama on the goal line that was recovered by MSST was over turned in the replay booth and called a touch down for Bama. It was a tough game and a close game. MSST has played four teams that were ranked in the top 10 when they played two at home two on the road. They are 3 and 1 in those games. If the committee drops1loss MSST from the top 4 then I'll know the fix is in to keep the SEC from having two teams in the playoff.

I don't see it that way myself. Bama went to the prevent defense in the second half. That's how MS state ran the yardage and time of possession up. MS state beat who? Auburn, and LSU when they were ranked higher than they should of been. The Canes are a good team, way better than their record. I'm sticking with my thoughts, no team from MS makes the playoffs.

When I clicked on this post I expected to see good news about the price of diesel fuel :P :P :P Guess that tells where my mind is

This recent cold snap caught a few folks off guard and there were some gelled up tractors :yuck: Don't have any #1 yet, but the Kubota is in the quonset with a full dose of Power Service thoroughly mixed in a quarter tank of fuel 8)

Guys cold started it yesterday at +5 to hang up a deer Put a can of Sea Foam in for good measure and let it run to operating temp

Bama's win will have way more influence with the committee than FSU's win and I don't think we will see Miss St drop very far down in the committee ranking either--'maybe' to #4--maybe not that far--MAYBE, no drop at all.
AP poll this morning still has 9-1 Bulldogs at #1.
Coach's poll still has 9-1 Bulldogs at #1.

Sorry, but The 'Canes are not considered to be anywhere near a tough team by any of the polls. Unranked in top 25 by AP, Coaches, Playoff committee, and every other poll out this morning.

I hate we lost but it was kind of expected. I think we needed a wake up call. We played sluggish against the last 2 SEC teams we played. Now i hope they blow out the rest of their opponents.

Tcu is out imo

Switch 2 &3 and 4 &5 and you'll have it--not that #5 spot matters much.
FSU has not, on game day--played, much less beat, a team ranked in the top 25 yet, and a lot of those 'nobodies' FSU really struggled against.

Bama will move up but not to #1, my guess is 3. While I have mixed feeling about the Ducks moving to #1 because of others lack of performance I think they will be #1. But, I don't think they will hold it, two games left and they play the two in the cellar of the pac 12, then the pac 12 championship game. FSU holds the #2 spot, I watch all of the Miami game, not impressed with the canes. They looked great at first, got an early lead then played the rest of the game "not to lose" not with a "let's win this" attitude. I agree TCU is out and Miss St is #4.

In other news..... Ohio st looked good in a win over #25 minn in minn, they have a chance to sneak in in the next few weeks.

#6 Arizona st blew their shot at the dance, losing to unranked ore st in Corvallis..... Their out. I was hoping they came out of the Pac 12 south as a one lose team to play the duck in the championship game.

Ducks
Noles
Bama
Miss St
Ohio St at 5 or 6

ND was 5 when they were beat. What does it say when alabama barely beats LSU and LSU is.slaughtered by a team.that has. Not won a sec Game this year. Impressive or barley winning a win is a win and any given Saturday any team can win.

None of that carries much weight, especially what a beaten team does in another game and who beats them further down the road. Sounds a lot like "Hey, I met the man that met the man that met Andy Griffith".
In addition, if you are going to use "Alabama barely beat a team that later got slaughtered by.." then you also have to take into account the fact that claiming FSU beating ND is a big thing, when the truth is, ND just got beat by a nobody named Northwestern. You don't get to have it both ways.

Didn't say you can't have it both ways only saying the polls are just an opinion the team standing in the end is all that matters. Weather its a no loss , 1 loss r 2 loss team everything right now is only speculation as to who the best team is . But to count a team out because they won a game when the unranked team they were playing brought everything they had to the table that Saturday is asinine. No single team has dominated this year and they all can be beaten heck marshell would beat 90% of sec right now.

Check your facts. When FSU plays in acc title game it Will be the fourth top 25 this season they will have plalyed. In fact when this schedule was set 2 or 3 years ago it had the potential to be 6 or 7 ranked teams in it. I'm not arguing the wins arnt impressiveonly saying that no team is dominate this year and can be beat in conference or out. SEC included.

Saban didn't go into a prevent defence by choice. MSST changed their offence in the second half and it worked. Mullens admitted he should have changed much earlier and they may have won the game. Except for that one drive MSST also shut down Bama's offence in the second half. State is the real deal and I really don't know why they should be behind Oregon but will not argue about that. They are close enough for it to go either way.
I'm not saying your wrong about no team from MS going to the playoff but not because their not good enough. Because the committee won't want two teams from one conference in the playoffs.
As for as Miami goes they are 6-4 team in a weaker conference. I'm not impressed.

I know they really don't matter but the Sunday poles are out.

AP and USA Today poles

1 Florida State
2 Alabama
3 Oregon
4 Miss State

ESPN power rankings

1 Alabama
2 Florida State
3 Oregon
4 Miss State

The AP poll, coaches poll, and ESPN power rankings means nothing. The playoff committee has shown the polls means zip! Teams who beat Notre Dame early have lost ground, they are not the same team once ranked high, same to be said about Arizona st, LSU, UCLA, etc. I'd be shocked and disappointed if Bama jumped to #1 with this win at home.

BTW, coaches poll is a complete joke! Coaches don't have time to watch games other than film on who's up next. Deepsouth, I was agreeing with you on polls not mattering.

Does anyone believe Oregon can beat Bama, or the Noles. And Mississippi state will probably beat them also. I was thinking Mississippi state had the best chance of knocking Bama out of the playoffs. I believe the Noles can handle everyone but Bama.

I think this system they have now is worse than before. Some teams play more games than other teams, which could be good or bad. I believe that you can buy a judge and jury. When you only have a few people to convince, it's not that hard to cheat.
