No apples this year?

Two out of my three apple trees don't have a single apple on them yet they were full of blossoms.Is this normal or are they missing something in their diet?They are not crab apple trees they have the large macintosh like apples.We had apples on them every year since we have been here 4 years.Any suggestions?
 
Davis we always have oodles of bees and this year was no exception.The other tree has lots of apples but it is the small bitter apples that I always let the birds eat.They are in the same garden together so I am thinking it has something to do with the soil.Also they were full of blossoms when we had that bad snow storm in May could that have set them back?Thanks for your reply.
 
Weird... maybe the blossoms dropped in the freeze and you'll have some in August...

...we were talking this morning that we have seen a LOAD of wasps this year but few honey bees and we have less producing tomato plants this year...

Hopefully you'll get some apples in August and tomatoes for us!
 
Thanks Davis and Brian. I think the strange weather has done some odd things to all of our gardens.So here's hoping that everyones tomatoes and apples and fruit trees make a comeback.If not there is always next year :( .
 
I am so loaded down with apples that we had a major tree structure failure - one huge branch full of apples is on the lawn - I have been feeding them to the cows.

No "cows choking" please - we feed our animals apples every summer.

Well at least someone has apples.I always give apples as treats to the cows and horses I guess they will have to go without this year.
 
We had a drought this spring during the flower set. I ever so much was going to give them some water but.... I don't have any either.
 
Our tree's are loaded with apples but given the lack of rain, I can't imagine how they are going to finish out........
