Thought I would ask everyone here while I am searching through my vet manual. How do nitrates in feed effect horses and is it as serious as how they effect cattle?
I did a brief search and it would appear that, although it can occur in horses, horses do not appear to be at as high a risk as cattle - possibly because they are non-ruminants, and do not 'process' their feed as thoroughly? I'm not sure of the reason, but perhaps you might want to google it?
