Thought I would ask everyone here while I am searching through my vet manual. How do nitrates in feed effect horses and is it as serious as how they effect cattle?

Thanks

I did a brief search and it would appear that, although it can occur in horses, horses do not appear to be at as high a risk as cattle - possibly because they are non-ruminants, and do not 'process' their feed as thoroughly? I'm not sure of the reason, but perhaps you might want to google it?

Thanks msscamp for responding ;sorry I took so long to get back but I forgot where I posted this question under.

That seems to be what I came up with also but I will ask my vet when we do herd health just to be safe.

Thanks again.
