Getting closer it looks like and the models have (mostly) come together for a better consensus. Winds currently at 70mph.
Latest 'says' ashore on mid Texas coast near Palacios, up I-59 to just north of Houston and hang a hard right thru East Tx, La and on into Mississippi.
(nothing is for certain tho.)

I understand one reason why you’re moving west
August is usually our hottest month and hard on my electric bill, but we had so many power outages last month, that my electric bill was just over $20 cheaper than July bill. 3 of the outages were over 12 hours long, and all of them because of limbs on the line.
(of course, I had to pay for generator fuel so I didn't save anything)

It is a hurricane...

Very recently, a WeatherFlow Station at Matagorda Bay, Texas,
reported sustained winds of 66 kt (76mph) with a gust to 83 kt (96mph). Based on
this observation, Nicholas is being upgraded to a hurricane on this
advisory, and a Hurricane Warning is issued.

This, is where the local flooding may come in:

Within 12 to 24 hours, after Nicholas has moved
inland, the ridge is forecast to weaken and leave Nicholas in an
area of light steering currents. As a result, during the next
couple of days, the cyclone is expected to turn eastward and slow to
a crawl near southwestern Louisiana

It has been a real disappointment. It ran to the east of us and we only had a couple showers early on. It was supposed to come in dang on top of us and we were going to get some deced rain.

It's been raining most of the morning here but not terrible so far.
As dry as it is and as low as all the creeks and the river is I don't expect any serious flooding here.

I had hoped for some decent rain, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. We were lucky enough to get a very localized shower that dropped almost an inch week before last.

We 'may' have gotten 2" of rain altogether. Winds were really pretty light compared to most storms I've been in.
