Had 2 inches of rain (50 mls) in the past two days in storms and still looks like more on the way. Freshened things up beautifully. Gullies and river up about a metre (about 3 feet). Always rains when we have weaners in the yards. Have 14 Droughtmaster heifers and steers in the yards on a bit of grain to freshen some of them up for sale before christmas.
Brought them up from down the coast off rough country. Their mums are about calve to a Droughtmaster bull soon. They've been here a week now and having decent grass they look a lot better. Will join some to our Hereford and some to our red Brahman then after that they will go to the South Devon.
Its just starting to sprinkle rain again now.

Hopefully you've passed that rain to us Colin, there's a bit of activity coming from the south, so all we can do is hope.

About 2 weeks ago we got 20 inches in 1 week, with only 2 days of raining. The week before that we got over a 1 foot. In those 2 weeks we got almost 3 feet of rain. All this after several months with absolutely nothing. Its still not dried up at home after over a week with no rain.

Don't want to hear that... REALLY don't want to hear that!!

We had another 32 mls overnight and it is still showering. Our total for the past four days is 84 mls (4 times that figure for the inch equivalent) Any floodgates that never went yesterday will be gone now. our main one would probably ave about 3 metres of water over it by now (thats about 9 feet)
Any way its better than drought.

Nice and sunny here today temp about 20c after the beaut rain. Gullies still up so can't do the floodgates yet.Might drop into another storm later who knows. Theres been a few good falls about our state over the past two/three days. Not enought to break the drought though. As I've said before we are quite OK in our district,we are very blessed we are never as bad off as most other places.

Had another ten mls of rain overnight (4 times 10 gives you 40 points or .40 of an inch) Its bright and sunny here this morning. Our country looks nearly the best I've seen it for a long time anyway.Where we are situated often storms are generated right above us being close to the edge of the range. We get some very spectacular cloud formations coming up the mountain side. I think it could be heaven.

Rained all night here. Must have been at least six inches, judging by the way the yard flooded. Also, got water in the barn and that never happens unless there's a big rain.

Got another 28mls of rain in the early hours of the morning in a series of storms. The gully below our house was loud and roaring over the rocks. Seems like it rains out of nothing lately. maybe its getting back to the good old wet times. We are now well set up for summer when its our wettest time usually.

Here I go again. Another 14 mls overnight. Misty day here this morning. Just wish it would nice and sunny for a few days now. We've had over 30 inches of rain for the year so far, could ideally have another 8/10 before years end. Can't get to the floodgates to fix them because of the height of the water still. Not much use fixing them then to have them get washed away later in the day.
Wish everywhere in our country were getting a share of the the rain.
Colin
