Next years beef calves.

I see a lot of diff between the two. Is the sire the same for both?
Yes same sire, 3/4 Angus 1/4 Hereford. Calves were born 2 days apart. The first calf in the picture is by a full Jersey nurse cow, he was raised in the cow for several months along with three other calves, then turned out for a while with just him nursing the cow.
The second calf is 1/2 Jersey cow. She was the result of a neighbor’s Jersey bull breeding one of our commercial black heifers. The black cow is heterozygous black so her Jersey cross heifer turned out to be color of a Jersey but with more of a beef look. A couple of years ago I raised a beef nearly identical to the one on the left, out of my Jersey nurse cow by a Sim-Angus bull.
Ugly, but a beautiful brindle color, and pet dog gentle.
It was melt in your mouth, cut with a fork tender. I should have used more corn and less commodity mix and fed it a little longer, but we all still really enjoyed it on the plate. It did have a sort of tang or different taste than store bought beef.
