Hi all

I currently reside in ontario canada

i am going to start off with renting some pasture and about 10 angus head of cattle calfs about 400 pounds
just wondering if anyone had some tips i could use? For feed i was thinking feeding them hay and a qurter of that would be alfalfa so they can get some protein what do you think?

P.s. What are angus Calfs going for right now?

thanks for your time :cboy:

How many acres of pasture? I would start off with clean water and good mineral . Cattle should be alright on good pasture for the summer . Seem alittle light for calves that have already been weaned . Just my opioion. Im not sure what part of ontario you are in but check http://www.cattle.guelph.on.ca/markets/marketinfo.asp and should be able to find a price in the area close to you ! Last week 4 -5 weight steers were running $1.20 .

Thanks for the reply,

i was hoping you could help me with something when i check the website how do i know the price per pound all it gives me is for example 102-134 what does this mean? thanks for your time. :cboy:

It should mean $1.02 for the low price and $1.34 as the high price.

To be a little more specific; the price is per cwt. or per 100 pounds. So your 400# steers would cost $1.02 X 4 = $408 per head
or on the high end $1.34 X 4 = $536 per head.
