This past Saturday I made the trip to Jasper, TX to bring the golf cart that was part of my deal I made and pick up my like new used drum mower. Data plate on the mower has 2014 as the production date and the previous owner said he only used it 3 times. The previous owner was going to start getting someone to cut and bale his hay so he was selling all his hay equipment. I almost didn't even attempt to buy this mower, but thanks for a fellow member here that gave me a little push. I'll be cutting hay second week of September if the weather allows.

I need to add about 300 lbs of weight to the front. In transport mode, the front end bounces. Lonestar Weights in Wichita Falls, TX is the cheapest I've found. 80# suitcase weights for $71 each and freight is $94 for 4 80# weights. I got ahold of some big tractor suitcase weights, so I will give those a try before I buy the Lonestar ones. The only plus of the Lonestar weights is that they are direct bolt on for my Kubota and Ialready have a weight bracket on the tractor (that is what the bumper is bolted to).

I really like mine. To the point, I wonder why they never caught on. It's a little slower than a disc mower, but my time is cheap.

BF, I really liked my old PZ. The only reason I went to a disc mower is because of the size (PZ was only 5' wide). Mudhog, glad to see you finally got one. When you get ready to fold that thing out into the cutting position don't be standing between it and the tractor. It'll leave a mark. :P

You mean this mark that I got Sunday. :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

I saw the rubber stopped, but went toward the tractor instead of away from the tractor. Lets just say my knee would have been crushed had the rubber bumper not been there. Quickly learned to operate it from as far toward the back end as I can reach the pin and to not lift the mower any higher than it needs to to swing. Honestly, I now started rotating it lower to the ground and letting it hit the ground as it swings. Then I lift up to let it comes to the rubber stop. I'd say I learned quickly.

First use was a success where has this thing been all my life? I'm cutting in High 1st at 4.5 mph. Not only am I cutting faster, I'm cutting a full 5ft and I've used less fuel (10-15 gallon less) than last year.

Oh, and I read the manual and the manual says to unpin and then reverse or forward the tractor to get it to swing. Works like a charm. :tiphat:
