Well after fighting the snow and ice for a few hours got our new bull home from Iowa. Thanks to all that helped me pick him out of a few candidates.

He is PB Simmental and 22 months old. Homozygous Black and polled. Not the best picture but you get an idea.

Good lookin' bull. From the looks of that straight line from sack to sheath, he is "interested" in that animal on the other side of the fence. ;-)

with the string on the fence behind him it looks like he has a retained placenta. I hope that isn't the case. Seems to be a nice looking critter, i like the chrome on his face adds character.

i was always told to chop off a bulls head (with your imagination) and the better his body fits into a rectangle the better he is, i reckon he fits in pretty good and looks a nice sort of bull.

That way you could put whatever had you wanted so you could get either bulls or heifers depending on the head you put back on

its not the head that makes the bull, or heifer. i wouldve thought that was pretty obvious.

From the posts by one individual, it isn;t obvious to everyone

WOW that's how it works!! And to think i've been listening to all of those stupid scientists. meiosis is a crock! its all about the head. So let me make sure i've got this straight if you get a "heifer like bull" he will throw more heifers because he carries more "female genes?" yet he is a bull? So if you breed him to a heifer cow you will almost get all heifers. So the inverse 'must' be true If i get a bull bull and put it on all bull cows and i should get mostly bull calves. I'm thinking if i run my bull then cut him after breeding season i'll have all steers born in the spring.
Dun, i know you're studying up on this also let me know if you discover anything else.

From all the studies I've seen that only works in TENN.

To funny! I almost did not buy him because I was wanting heifers and thought his head was to big for my needs.

Won;t be studying it. Don;t think I would do very well dealing with the "professor" in this subject.
