Yesterday, finally the weather was nice (awesome really), so we decided to head to a Shorthorn bull sale. DH was interested in a couple of the heifers on offer, they were pretty sweet.... But of course, you can't go to a bull sale without looking at the bulls. We weren't really planning on buying another Shorthorn bull this year (or at least it was news to me, lol). But there were several solid red ones there that really looked good. Of course most of the ones we liked sold out of our price range, which shouldn't have been a problem, as we were there for the heifers. But then this guy came through, and sold fairly reasonable.

He was born Sept 28, 2011, which makes him a nice age to go out with the cows. Should be good for a few more than a yearling anyways. Reg name is Waukaru Top Shelf 1224. Reg # is *x4187872.

His EPD's are BW 2.4 WW 30 YW 46 Milk 2

Just finished looking at your 4 post with the pics, looks like a great day for a new camera. You guys have a great looking bunch of calves, this is the first year which we haven't been calving by now. Last breeding season we pushed our breeding season back about a month to adios the wet and mud ..... So this spring things are drying up quick and green and warm. :? I really miss not having new calves yet. Good looking shorthorn bull, sounds like me go to look at a couple of heifers and come home with a bull ..... Boys and their toys.

Nice pics thanks for sharing.

He looks alright to me.. seems to have a decent butt too... Nice solid red and a good length.. he'd fit in nicely at our place too.

Looks like the weather has smartened up a little for you now, I'm sure you aren't complaining about that! We've finally started the T shirt weather here, at least when the sun's out, we're just over halfway, I think we have one older cow and 2 heifers left for the first cycle, and they're due at any time, then we have a few left after that.

Nice.
We've used several of the Waukaru sires in our crossbreeding program, and have been very pleased with the steers and heifers. Bet you will be, too.
