I’m taking over 40 acres the first of next month. The previous lessor didn’t mow it last year or this year and has ran a bull with about 12 cows on it. So it’s pretty growed up just looking from the road. Sage grass is real high. It borders another 40 I got cows on and was going put some more on it. Should I just clip this pasture or cut it low and start over or what?

Welcome neighbor, sounds like your south of ft smith, I would clip it , and turn them in, then adjust.

I agree clip it 6-8” high and turn the cows in. Once you see what you have then you can come up with a plan to improve it.

If you have a multiyear lease think about some lime this fall to start working on the sage grass next year. As the ph improves the sage fades away.
