New one!

I love new calves! My heifer out of Carolina Fortune calved unassisted at 6:58 this morning. The calf is out of an Atlas 101N son (Paradox Atlas). I don't know what it is yet since I had to leave for work but I will find out this afternoon when I tag and weigh it. One more cow left to calve and I am done for the spring. Bring on the grass please!

Nice bull calf. Weighed a bit heavier than I like for a heifer to have. He weighed 79 lbs. It took me awhile to get it weighed and tagged. In this photo she was not happy with me getting close. I had to wait for her to put it in the woods to sleep while she grazed. I did the commando approach through the woods from the back. She never knew a thing.

Good strong looking calf. I believe his legs are almost as long as his mom's are right now.
It's good to see the pastures greening up too.

She did an excellent job calving herself, just as she should , and she's takin' care of business right NOW giving you that "WHAT are you up to" look!! LOL
