I have come up with a new idea for a deer feeder in pasture's where the cow's are at.
Tell me what ya'll think as I am going to start on it next week. I am going to weld up a bracket on a 30 gallon drum and hang it on a tree like a bow stand. This should solve the issue's with the cow's messing with one.

Should work good, after all they have been working good like that for years.

I have one hung with cable from a limb with a pulley attached to it and a crank from a boat trailer. That has kept the hogs from tearing it up.

Tripod with a winch will solve cows, coons, squirrel, ect... and make your life a lot easier. ;-) Make sure you have a good spinner on your timer. They have some that are shaped like a football with the points clipped off. They are solid except for squares on the ends and a circle on top for the funnel to slide in to. These thing will throw a solid 40yd diameter circle... maybe more... with a 12V battery. That will also keep cattle off it and more deer for a longer period of time.

The hogs on the far left are eating corn that feeder threw out. :D It knocks the paint off the legs.

I don't even have a feeder out and I had 55 hogs in the yard a week ago.

In Ava???

We have some East of us here but not big bunches. 10-15 would be big. Severaly people around here chum them and hunt them; they are setting themselves up for a rude awakening enticing them to stay around.

How you gonna re-fill it CB?? Lots of trips up a tree with a bag of feed on your shoulder. :???:

Actually they are at our place where I grew up that we just moved from, about 15 miles from Ava, they got real bad starting about 10 years ago, and then since then they have kinda moved around wich they can go a good ways as much forest service land as there is around, and there was a lot of people hunting them with dogs for a couple years back when they first got bad, so it seemed that for a while they might have thinned out a little. Me and dad were riding through the woods one day and rode up on a herd and killed 14.

Haul a step ladder in the back of the Mule.
Got lot's of tree's and this should solve the hog and cow problem.
It is so far to the first limb on these trees here you would need climbing spur's.

CB,
I hang them in the trees but make sure it's far enough from the trunk so a coon can't reach the spinner while hanging on the tree trunk. Our cows don't mess with the scattered corn on the ground...the calves will but don't spend too much time trying to eat it.
