Subject: New coin came out this month



The U.S. Mint hopes the redesigned $1 coin will win acceptance with consumers.




It does not have In God We Trust on it. Another way of leaving God out.
Send this on and let consumers decide if it will win acceptance or not.[/img]
 
That is a neat link, Alabama. Yes, it does say In God We Trust. I found it interesting, also, that altho Liberty does not appear in writing on the coin, it is indicated by having the Statue of Liberty on the back.

just what I need is more coins to add weight to my purse

but wait a minute - I sometimes think that pennies are breeding in the bottom (of my purse) so perhaps dollars will too 8) 8)
 
My sister sent that email to me a couple of weeks ago. Said the principle of the school she works at sent it to all the teachers. Now mind ya, my sister has her doctor's degree in something, anyway I "snopes" it and sent it back to her and told her to apologize to the list of people she sent it to. She said, "my principle sent it to us." and I replied , "my dear little sister - don't you know to question authority!"
 
This dollar coin will be no more popular than the Susan B. Anthony, Sacajawea, Eisenhower, and all the rest. I've never been given one in change my entire life. The only way I even saw one was to ask for it at the bank. The treasury makes money off theses things. That's why they keep making them.
 
I wanted one to just see it, I went to three banks. One is a national bank. And all three told me that they wouldn't be getting in any at all unless a customer brought them in because people don't want them.

The only reason I have any of those coins is cause the post office makes you take them in chance. AND there is a vending machine that hubby uses that spits chance out for a 5 in dollar coins.

That has always been my beef with dollar coins. You can't use them in vending machines, so what good are they? The Anthony coin felt like a quarter. The Sacajawea coin did, too. If I can't buy a cold drink with one, then I don't need them clogging my coin purse.
 
Saw in the paper that some of the coins DO NOT have"In
God We Trust" around the edge.. They are worth about $50.00
Or so the paper says..

Yes, some coins apparently missed the step that would have engraved "In God We Trust" on them. It's a quality control issue; not "Another way of leaving God Out" as the original poster claimed.
 
How long does it take the edge of the coin to wear out? Since it is not readily visible, what is the difference between it and leaving it out? Maybe this is some gov't conspiracy to eventually take it out all together!!??!!
 
the coin will be out of circulation long before the edge wears off, but I agree, this is abviously a conspiracy, CAB based im betting. ever notice they dont have "In God We Trust" anywhere at all on thier meat. :lol:
 
I collect Morgan Dollar's have some made in the early 1884 the edges are still great on.Have some that are worn also.

I heard on the radio today that the coins without "In God We Trust" were mis-struck according to the US Mint people. In don't remember the numbers and they weren't sure but it's supposed to be on the coin and is on some but not on others. If that's so the ones without are going to be worth a bundle pretty quick.Z
 
There's a conspiracy alright, but it's not about taking "In God We Trust" off of coins. The phrase was intentionally left off thousands of the dollar coins so that people would be clamoring for rolls of them in hopes of getting one of the rare ones. In the end, most of the coins will end up in a Mason jar, Crown Royal bag, under the sofa cushions, buried in the driveway, washed down the sewer, or in the sock drawer. Bottom line, the Treasury Dept. issued hundreds of millions of dollar coins which will never be redeemed.

this seems like some government conspiracy... :shock: What next? Buying only one sock at a time?! ok, but in all seriousness...could you tell me where you read this. Not that i dont beleive you... ;-) I just want to read into it more. Thanks.
