bought a new 05 chevy crew z71 in sept. last week had to have it towed back to dealer.the water pump was pouring coolant.the truck was only on its 3rd oil change.by the way its the 5.3 liter gas eng.my son was there when the wrecker driver picked it up and the driver told him that the previous day he had picked up an identicle truck same problem.just wondering if anyone else has had or herd of same problem.

I've got a used car lot and we have waterpump problems all the time with the chevys, along with the fuel sending units.

i just kinda expected better equipment out of a $40k pickup.they just dont build em like they used too i guess.i sure cant complain about the fuel economy though its pretty good there and it seems like it would pull a house off its blocks.the old one i traded in was a 99 gmc extra cab z71.i had 150k miles on it and outside of reg maintainence i replaced a coulpe of fuses and repaired a wire.sure miss the old one now.

Just replaced the waterpump on our 2003 Silverado with less than 60k miles. We bought new and has been very well maintained. I am told that this 'just happens'. On the 1998 Silverado it was the intake gasket that had to be replaced early - now the radiator is leaking but that will have to wait.
