Made a trip to several ranches and saw lots of cows and bulls. At the last stop we found this guy. He does alot of things right by looking at him, plus he is out of a real good cow, he performed good and scanned great. Plus he has real good shaped feet. In his 5 generation pedigree, 15 cows show up and only 2 are under 100 MPPA and they average 103 MPPA. Should be real maternal and pretty much an outcross for our program. We ended up buying him over the phone on Saturday.

SJRA 508 Lantry 734
Reg. # 1163862
BW: 89 lbs
WW: 734 lbs - 103 ratio
YW: 1230 lbs - 108 ratio
IMF - 5.11% 146 ratio
REA - 15.53 sq. inches - 114 ratio (1.26 sq. inches/cwt)

1.4/36/70/22/40/12/.10/.15

These aren't the best photos but it is all the ranch that raised him emailed me.

Here is his maternal grand sire

He's a real nice Bull, has almost all the big name bulls in his pedigree. The only thing I wouldn't do with him is put him on heifers . Other than that he should throw some real growthy calves . His maternal side is real strong, BJR Rambler is supposed to be a heck of a cowmaker.

Good luck with him, looks like you picked a winner.

I like the looks of that bull. He's not perfect. No one has ever posted a perfect bull, and no one ever will. He looks like he would work for just about anyone. I say this with no regard for his numbers or EPDs...just looking at the picture.

I won't try and critique him because that's not what you asked for. I think he's a good enough bull to be used by most. Congratulations.

I really like that country around his Grandsire. Is that Wyoming, or western SD. Who did you buy the bull from?

We bought him from Spear J Red Angus at Jordan MT, and I take it that is where the photo was taken.

My kind of bull. Nice gut. :D

Should go well with your other cattle. I believe he will work nice in your program.
