New angus bull

What kinda cows you putting him on
I've ran mostly sim and gelbvieh bulls the last 8-10 yrs, and I'm starting to get too high of % of off color calves.. starting with this guy I'm going to put a couple generations of angus back into our herds.. it's so hard to find an angus bull that I like though..

Do you sell feeder calves? I'm assuming yes. That would affect my response on the bull (a bit). He's got some solid "carcass" figures if you were indeed finshing/selling on the grid. He wouldn't be my first choice on heifers, but he should be fine on cows. His SC # doesn't mesh with his HP #s (imo). But not really a big issue if you aren't retaining heifers (or if your cow herd is fertile).

Videos -- they are what they are -- better than a simple photo -- but they can still be misleading. How much ground will he be covering? He may not work for gcreek in Canada but he may work just fine for you in KY.

My actual answer: you got him for a decent price given the bull market (I can see the bid on dvauction). I'd not hesitate to use him in my herd and I'm very finicky. I'd say you shouldn't look at this thread anymore and go enjoy your bull. :-)

Looks like a good bull to me. I wouldn’t worry much about EPD’s unless there’s something you’re really trying to add or avoid. Some EPD’s in my opinion are questionable at best, especially for a young bull. EPD’s are generally more reliable on an older heavy used bull.

He's very deep bodied, and that could be good for raising replacements or for selling steers. He has some decent muscle, both in the rear and across the top. And he moves well. For that price I think you came out very well. Pretty good looking bull...

I really like his bottom side. With 316 and Bismarck his daughters should be maternal. I like his type. His trailhead isn’t an issue for me. If he has good feet is a bigger concern. I’m sure he does. The first calves sired by the bull I bought last year have arrived. They maybe the best we have ever raised.bull I bought last year

Would like to see his feet better. Looks big footed (good), but maybe long toes and could use some heel depth. Would prefer a little cleaner underline (navel flap is not desirable). Otherwise looks decent.
