If your asking this question I will assume you haven't done it before. You can do it at any age but the older ones are tougher for someone that ain't never did it. The ring thing is easy for anyone on a small calf. There is a tool made its less than 20 dollars. The bands fit on this tool. Easiest way to do it is lay the calk on the ground and have someone hold the legs, they will kick if they get a chance. While someone is pulling bach on the back leg put your knee on the calf to hold it down. Put the band on the tool and open it. Now put this over the sack and make sure both nuts are below the band and release. double check to make sure you got them both. You may want to have some wire cutters nearby in case you didn't get them both and need to redo it. Let him up and in 4-6 weeks his baby making hardwarewill fall off.
