Yes, both Switzerland and Canada rely HEAVILY on immigration for population growth... Canada imports a lot of Asians, Switzerland it's more eastern europeans. Now Canada is terribly underpopulated, and as long as not everyone is piling into the cities, we've got plenty of room.

Switzerland on the other hand is a tiny country, with about half the land at some god-awful above treeline elevation, Switzerland is at serious risk of becoming a paved parking lot.. it has about 8.2 million people and is not a whole lot bigger than Maryland (I thought it was 7.5 million until I looked it up).

Yes, There's lots and lots of us expatriates around, and in the US, just look in Indiana, where you can find tons of names of Swiss towns.. Zurich for one. Of my ~10 cousins, only 3 I can think of still live in Switzerland... They're in Italy, France, and Canada
