I have some ground that i'm taking out of soybeans and going to plant in grass, does anybody know about planting bahia grass, do you plant it by seeding or sprigs and if you seed it where do i get seed from. Thanks in advance Mike

Your feed store or seed dealer should be able to order it. All I've seen down here is called "Pensacola Bahia". Just get it contact with the ground. It will come up. Hope you like it because it's a bytch to get rid of.

You plant Bahia grass from seed which around here generally runs .60-.70/lb and we plant 20-30lbs to the acre. Bahia grass is a good low maintenence grass that is deep rooted and with stands dry weather fairly well.

If I had a choice it wouldn't be bahia . It's hard to git rid of .. Bermuda will produce 2 or more times the grass.... The only good thing about the drought is it let the Bermuda take over in some of my pastures that had bahia in them ...

Here Bahia is King or called poor mans coastal there are several variaties Puarguy being the best most pounds of grass least amount of seed. If you can afford the seed. Then you have Argentine and Penesacola.
Now JSC said coastal is best and he is right it takes more maintain..
