Yeah, pretty much, John. He's cleaned up his act a bit. Hasn't been as much of an ass to the media and fans as he was the past couple of years. That helps. Plus the Bears were on a bit of a roll when he went down. When the OL protects him even just a little he's shown that he's a pretty good QB, even with one of the worst receiving corps in the league. If you win, more people will like you. If you lose, and you're an arrogant ass like he's been in the past, they'll hate you in a heartbeat.
Another thing I've noticed is that a lot of the media realized what fools they looked like when they questioned his toughness last year. Once all the facts came out they ended up looking like idiots so now they're bending over backwards to praise him.
