Can you use Kubota brand hydraulic fluid in an older, seventies or early eighties, Ford tractor?

Thanks
I think you would need more information. There are a wide range of types, blends, brands and viscosities.

I think it would work fine. However, on my older J.D. I would use something cheaper. Yeah, like Tractor Supply stuff.

The biggest concern with hydraulic fluid is does your tractor have wet brakes and/or a wet clutch and if it does make sure you get the proper hydraulic fluid. If not the brakes will come a part and you will be paying a pile of money to get it fixed. I have used NAPA Premium hydraulic fluid # 85-405 for years in my Kubotas, Massey, Ford and John Deere and you will have no problems with it. It is not cheap but less expensive than the tractor brands.

The Kubota hydraulic fluid is as good or better than what you tractor has in it or ever had.

Thanks guys!

The debate was between a couple of guys at our farm this morning. One insisted the Kubota fluid would not work in the Ford and the other said it would be fine. I split the difference and bought a 5 gallon bucket of generic fluid.

Running fine so far.

My old stuff gets generic stuff and I also use it as steering fluid in some.

Kubota oil will be just fine in a Ford, but too much $$$. Years ago the dealer put HyTran in my Ford when it came back from a transmission repair job. :o

Any transdraulic oil meeting the Ford 134 specs for wet clutch/brake applications is OK As always, read the label. :P

Never use plain hydaulic oil in a system involving wet clutches or brakes.
