Turned on my new home computer today and ...

all the icons on the desktop have turned into notepad documents :???:

What the hell happened?

Almost all of the buttons in the start menu are also notepad documents.

When I turn on the computer it automatically opens 28 notepad documents with gobbledegook written in them. 28 seems to be the magic number its always 28 ...

Sounds like a virus to me. When you click on the icons on the desktop, does it launch your applications or open up a notepad doc?
