Navel

I bought a day old holstein heifer from the salebarn last monday
and her navel is swollen it is about 3in around and it is filled with fluid, one person told me to just give her penicillin, is this enough, any suggestions? Her navel was fine when i bought her.

Is it fluid or intestines dropping through a small hole. If it's just fluid, we have in the past given high dosages of long acting pen every other day for a week or so with good success.

I think it is just fluid, how would you tell if it's her intestines droping?

If you poke around in the enlarged area with your finger you will feel a hole in the stomach muscle. A word of warning, they don;t like it much when you're poking around

I felt around her navel and all the swelling will go up inside if her and you can feel the hole, what do i do about it?
