Natural beef is what? Being produced without hormones and antibiotics? Or?

I would think that they probably can;t drink city water either, it's got chemicals in it.

Can you fertilize your grass, or graze them on hybrid forages?
What do you do when a calf gets sick with using antibiotics?
How about genetically altered corn?

Dun; They filter out the chemicals. They cant use rain water as it is full of toxic waste these days.

Must wear respirators too to keep the airborne pollution out of their lungs.

There's a guy down the road raising organic beef,
Talk about rules and regulations :help: :help:
He's got to get something like $200. per pound to break even. ;-) :cboy:

Natural beef is easy compared :P and you can lie about it
I don't think there are and rules or regs. Are There?

With the new EID tag's you can not lie about anthing, you in order any of the information other than age and sorce to be on the tag you have to have someone like myself a cattlog agent come out and audit your heard and place the tag's. If they are all natural and have a EID tag I can list them on cattlogs web site for mager feedlots to see. They will pay .20 to .50 more to to any one on the list.

I'm thinking Minnesota, very strict laws regulate organic beef or any food product. Natural, no regs, make up as you go type stuff.

The term natural really does not have any regulation attached to it and it is not recognized by the USDA.
Just let the customer know what they are getting and keep a open farm...offer to let them come out and select the steer that they will be buying and see how they are grown.

The USDA recently slapped Tyson's hands for placing a USDA APPROVED label on their chicken. the label states that they do not use antibiotics, BUT they said they only use an ionophore. The USDA admitted their mistake and state that an ionophore is indeed an antibiotic, thus they need to remove the approved label.

Tyson came back and said it wasn't an antibiotic, but an antimicrobial. They can try to split hairs if they want, but by definition antimicrobials are antibiotics.

Some thoughts about "natural"............

AI is not natural

Castoration is not natural

Water from a well is not natural

Fence is not natural

See my point? That being said, I try to raise mine as "natural" as possible. No hormones, no antibiotics (unless absolutely necessary), no steroids, etc. But... are they "natural"? I would say not. They are not natural, they are not organic, they are not totally grass fed, but they are as close to natural as I can make it.

I would eat any cow that I have and be comfortable with it.
