My snow storm experience. Pics

All went well until 1 AM when the power went off.
So I closed off the back half of the house and curled up on the sofa with a quit in front of the fireplace.
Fireplace insert has no fan now, so I left the doors open.
At 6 AM I got up, went to the garage and got out my generator ran an extension cord into the house.
Started the generator.
Went back into the garage to get my 4 plug in box only to remember my neighbor borrowed it several moths earlier. Now I can only run the fireplace fan.
That used up one of my middle fingers for the day.
Went back to the garage and got another extension cord, plugged it into the generator and ran it into the house.
Now I have 2 sources of electric, so I brewed a pot of coffee.
Then I rummaged through some boxes in the closet and found an old power strip.
Now I had 6 outlets, plus the one running the fan.

Then I plugged in my lamp, coffee pot, toaster and electric grill and had breakfast.
Then decided to go back under the quilt and catch a little more shuteye.

Here is what I found on my sofa.

So I decided to go out and take some pics.

Then the grandkids arrived.

Thank God the power outage only lasted 18 Hrs.
And I still had one middle finger left.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrr...! Makes me cold just looking at it.

I've been thru several natural disasters and their associated power outages and learned, that the person with a working coffee pot is no less than a god to those who don't. A Coleman stove, an old style coffeepot and the aroma of that dark elixir drifting out over the neighborhood the morning after will emasculate nearby mortal men without such possessions, cause their wives and girlfriends to cast seductive glances your way and children look up in awe of your resourcefulness and good planning.

and, I've had uglier things on my couch than that.......

About 8 AM I saw a neighbor, who mover here from Fla, come out and clean off his truck and leave it running to warm up.
I thought you D fool are you really going to try to drive in this. H the roads are all blocked with down trees.

Then it happened.
Both he and his wife came out with quilts and curled up in the truck until the power came back on.
Now that's what I call having NO PLAN!

And NO, they are the kind of people I don't want to have anything to do with.

At least you were smart enough to have a generator. We have a PTO driven one here. FIL bought it years ago.
Did you curl up with your quilt warmers? :D

Those are some smart dogs! At least they left some room for you! My labs don't bother to do that, and they are so offended when you move them over.
