These are our Australian Cattle Dogs, Holly is 4 and on the left and Lilly is 5 and on the right. Lilly is the better herder, but Holly is better behaved. Holly tends to be more laid back and will wonder if you let her, but Lilly is extremely smart, knows a lot of commands, and is all business when working or moving cattle. Most of the time you have to keep an eye on her because she is lightning quick and will nip a hock if we aren't careful. As long as there isn't any chasing to be done Holly is very good about working back and forth behind the herd keeping the moving. We owe our dogs so much, there have been times when they have saved us from cattle getting out through an open gate, tempermental bulls cornering us, mama cows being ornery, and cows that try to do their own thing instead of going with the herd. That is why I tend to let them eat frozen horse apples, roll in dry cattle manure, and feed them treats like baby carrots and marshmellows. I wouldn't trade them for the world. Plus they are excellent mousers, they both hate mice, have cornered woodchucks, and taken care of coons. Blue Heelers are tough, when Lilly was only three months old we had her in the lot training her, she took off after a cow hock and got kicked. The cow spun her 180* around and Lilly just stood there looking at me as if to ask, "What just happened?" They are extremely territorial when it comes to other dogs or people, if a stranger or a strange animal comes around they will let you know by either barking at the person or taking off after the dog. These two have tangled with dogs twice their size without any hesitation. I could go on all day about their quirks, Holly eats bugs, but I don't have the time. These are my pups!
