Monday morning the wife complained that my pup kept her up all night barking. This morning on the way out to do irrigation the pup jumped off the quad. I turned around to get her as she wouldn't come to my call. There was a fresh half eaten mule deer fawn. It's neck had been broken. Obviously a lion killed deer. About 150 yards from the house. The picture is taken off the front porch. The deer was just the house side of the closest cottonwood tree. There are thousands of apples falling off the trees right now. I was wondering why we don't have deer in here eating the windfalls. Now I know.

Good job Patty, I was annoyed about Roy barking 2am last night. Turned out deer were pruning my orchard.

A short while later when I was changing the tarp in that ditch in the picture, Patty would bark at the hill. She was sort of bristled up. She would move 30 or 40 feet and let out another bark. I looked over the hill but I couldn't see anything. Had I been thinking I would have grabbed the rifle and circled around coming over the top of the ridge. But I have seen her act the same way when the wind blew and old feed sack out into the driveway so I didn't get too excited.
