This youngster turned 2 last week and I'm embarrassed to say that I'm weaning her October 21st calf today. Thankfully calving ease runs deep here and she raised a healthy calf without any issues.

She's out of a SAV PRIORITY daughter. I was about sick when I didn't see her cycle. But it worked out.

When I figured out she was prego, I was afraid about her food intake. I separated her for fear of too big of calf and hand fed her. What a pain , but it worked.

Have to agree with @Buck Randall on this one..... if half the heifers I see looked this good, I would be breeding all mine to calve by 18 months. She is a nice heifer.

She was actually wasn't going to make it for a replacement here. She had the "to be beef" tag. Long toes in the bloodline.

She's beautiful! Well, except when she's picking her nose. Nothing to be embarrassed about - it happens, despite your best efforts! Actually, I take that back: 4 years ago, I mentioned to a neighbor we were having an Oops Baby. Small town, the meaning got twisted and I was subjected to raised eyebrows in town while the gossip mongers mentally calculated my age + the odds. Awkward!

Good young cow. Over the years we have had several of those, both from purchased heifers and some of our own. It doesn’t always turn out great but fortunately for us it has been most often good situations and a lot of them are still here and have made as good and dependable cows as we have.
